Shirley J. Bonn, nee Bayer, 85, of Belleville, IL, born January 28, 1929, in Belleville, IL, died Sunday, November 9, 2014, at Cedar Ridge Health and Rehab Center, Lebanon, IL.
Mrs. Bonn was formerly employed at Streck Packing Co., at J.C. Penney, at Famous Barr, and at Jean’s Uniforms. She belonged to the Northeast Neighborhood Watch, and to the Belleville Senior Citizens. She was a past Noble Grand of the Belleville Rebekah Lodge #415, past-president of the Exchangettes of Belleville, and a member of the Daughters of Naomi. Shirley also belonged to the National Parks Conservation Association.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Harold “Hap” Bonn, whom she married on April 29, 1950, and who died on June 26, 2011; her parents, Eugene (Ikey) and Milda, nee Krummrich, Bayer; her step-father, Joseph Adamitis; and a brother, William Bayer.
Surviving are three sons, Paul (Kathy) Bonn of O’Fallon, IL,
Richard (Gail Setzer) Bonn of Columbia, IL,
and Jeffrey Bonn of Belleville, IL;
a daughter, Julie (Stacy) Wind of New Carlisle, IN;
seven grandchildren, Salem Bonn (Kim Reineke), Sasha (Brett) Hanvey,
Derek (Kristen) Bonn, Emily Rose (Eric) Yost,
Lindsey Wind, Mia Wind, and Colin Wind;
six great-grandchildren, Zane Bonn, Kaya Bonn,
Bennett Hanvey, Madeline Yost,
Kerry Yost, and Aidan Pena;
one brother, Donald (Marian) Bayer of Belleville, IL;
one sister, Norma (Jim) Amann of Mascoutah, IL;
a step-brother, Richard Adamitis of Caseyville, IL;
a sister-in-law, Ethel (Melvin) Schwartz of Belleville, IL;
many nieces and nephews;
and dear friends.
