Marilyn Jean Gibbons, nee Wilcox, 51, of Belleville, Ill., died Friday, August 3, 2012 at her residence in Belleville, Ill. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Herbert A. Kassly Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill. and 9 to 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 1201 Lebanon Ave., Belleville, Ill. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill. with Msgr. David Darin Celebrant. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill. Memorials may be made to Kendra Gibbons Education Fund at St. Teresa Catholic School 1201 Lebanon Ave., Belleville, Ill.
 
Marilyn was the wife of Tommy Gibbons, drums and vocals with Neon Cadilac Band.

Marilyn Jean Gibbons, nee Wilcox, 51, of Belleville, Ill., born Dec. 30, 1960, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at her residence.

Marilyn was a lab technician-Genome Institute at Washington University, St. Louis, Mo. She was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., where she was a volunteer for the St. Teresa’s Auction Committee, St. Teresa School Welcoming Committee, volunteer for “Everything Under The Sun” at St. Teresa Catholic School. She was a hospice volunteer. She loved the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues Hockey Team, bowling, and playing softball. She was an avid dog lover and Girl Scout Leader.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth M. and Joan Lee, nee DeBusk, Wilcox.

Surviving are her husband, Tom Gibbons of Belleville, Ill., whom she married on Sept. 23, 1995 in Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Kendra Gibbons of Belleville, Ill.; two step-sons, Adam Freeman of Alton, Ill., and Cory Gibbons of Highland, Ill.; brothers and sisters, Kenneth M. Wilcox Jr., of Collinsville, Ill., Thomas G. Wilcox of Aurora, Colo., Gary L. (Sue) Wilcox of Tampa, Fla., Dinna L. Wilcox of Tampa, Fla., Tony F. Wilcox of Collinsville, Ill., and Angie L. Wilcox of Denver, Colo.; father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Betty Gibbons of Belleville, Ill.; sister-in-law, Tammy Gibbons of Belleville, Ill.; brother-in-law, Timothy (Danielle Piemontese) Gibbons of Aurora, Ill.; nephews, Thomas “T.J.” Wilcox, Nathan Wilcox, Michael Wilcox and Anthony Wilcox, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A special thanks to the physicians, nurses, and Hospice of Southern Illinois for their loving care to Marilyn during her fight with cancer.

Memorials may be made to the Kendra Gibbons Education Fund at St. Teresa Catholic School, 1201 Lebanon Ave., Belleville, Ill. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.hakassly.com.
