When you hang with musicians all your life and you reach my age of 69, you just have to have a long history with some of the best musicians in the world. Rondo Leewright was one of those world traveling entertainers that put a smile on many faces for many years. The world is a better place because Rondo passed our way.
I was happy to have helped Rondo along the way with introductions to contacts on the East Side. I brought Rondo to several Blues Nights at The Elevator in Belleville in the days after disco gave way to live music again. Radio station WMRY was promoting Blues Nights at Union Station and Rondo was featured on one of the WMRY Blues Cruises.
See the promo photo above and you will see Rich McDonough, Dennis “Chicago Slim” Lansing, and Craig Thornton that are active musicians playing in bands that I regularly list in SkyReport. Also shown are Jeff Myers and Jack Inglis.
Rest well Rondo, your journey on earth is over, and you can join in the really big jam above. Somebody say “YEA”!!!
