Lilly E. Helfrich, nee Elliott, 75, of Lenzburg, IL, born November 3, 1935, in Alton, IL, died Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Mrs. Helfrich was the retired owner of A-1 Bait & Tackle Shop in Freeburg, which she operated for 36 years. She spent her retirement years entertaining friends and family with her band, Lil’s Gone Country.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lee Helfrich; her parents, Ebert T. and Marietta, nee Ingle, Elliott; two sisters, Pearlie May Stamm and Gay L. Wren; a brother, Amos F. Elliott; and grandsons, Nicholas Wayne Byrd and Anthony Edward Byrd.
Surviving are her dear friend and companion, Jim Bagsby;
three sons and two daughters, Steven J. Helfrich (friend, Pat Droit) of Wood River, IL,
Michael A. (Vicky) Helfrich of Dupo, IL,
Cynthia L. (Mauro) Galati of Foristell, MO,
David W. (Charlene) Helfrich of Freeburg, IL,
and Mari-Jo E. (Jimmy) Byrd of Coulterville, IL;
a sister, Shirley Ann Jones of East Alton, IL;
and many friends.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2011, at George Renner and Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL, with the Rev. John Lukomski officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
